The Hormone Trio is a focused blood spot test that measures the three most important sex hormones in women: estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone. This convenient at-home test provides essential insights into your hormonal balance, reproductive health, and overall well-being.
These three hormones work together to regulate your menstrual cycle, fertility, mood, energy, libido, weight, skin health, and much more. When they’re out of balance, you can experience a wide range of symptoms that affect your quality of life.
Perfect for women experiencing:
Your sex hormones are the foundation of your reproductive health, but they affect so much more than just your menstrual cycle and fertility. Estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone influence your mood, energy, metabolism, bone health, cardiovascular health, skin, hair, cognitive function, and sexual health.
When these hormones are imbalanced, you may experience symptoms that seem unrelated but are all connected to your hormonal health. The Hormone Trio gives you the essential data you need to understand what’s happening in your body and take action to restore balance.
This test is especially valuable if:
This focused panel measures the three essential sex hormones:
Why these three hormones matter together: Estradiol and progesterone work in a delicate balance throughout your menstrual cycle. When estrogen is too high relative to progesterone (estrogen dominance), you experience PMS, heavy periods, weight gain, and mood swings. Testosterone supports libido, energy, and muscle mass. Testing all three together reveals the complete picture of your sex hormone balance.

Q: Is this test covered by insurance?
A: This is a cash-pay test and is not billed to insurance. However, you can submit for HSA/FSA reimbursement, and we provide documentation to support your claim.
Q: Why should I test progesterone on Day 19-21 of my cycle?
A: Progesterone peaks in the mid-luteal phase (about 7 days after ovulation), which is typically Day 19-21 of a 28-day cycle. Testing at this time gives the most accurate assessment of your progesterone production. If you test too early or too late, your progesterone may appear falsely low.
Q: What if I don’t know when I ovulate?
A: If you have irregular cycles or don’t track ovulation, contact us for guidance. We can help you determine the best time to test, or you may want to use ovulation predictor strips to identify your ovulation day and test 5-7 days later.
Q: Can I do this test if I’m on birth control?
A: Hormonal birth control suppresses your natural hormone production, so this test may not be informative if you’re currently on the pill, patch, ring, or hormonal IUD. If you want to assess your natural hormone levels, you would need to be off hormonal birth control for at least 2-3 months. However, if you’re on bioidentical hormone therapy (not birth control), this test is excellent for monitoring your levels.
Q: Can I do this test if I’m menopausal?
A: Yes! This test can be done at any time if you’re menopausal. It will show your baseline estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone levels, which is helpful for determining if hormone therapy would benefit you or for monitoring existing hormone therapy.
Q: What if my results show hormone imbalances?
A: If your results indicate hormone imbalances, you can schedule a consultation with your ForwardFlow Health provider to discuss personalized treatment options, including bioidentical hormone therapy, nutritional interventions, and lifestyle modifications.
Q: Do I need a doctor’s order for this test?
A: ForwardFlow Health provides the clinical oversight for this test. Your order is reviewed and authorized by our licensed provider.
Q: What states can order this test?
A: This test is available in states where we are currently operational including CO, DC, IA, KS, MD, NV, WY, MT, ME, SD, NE, OR, and WA.
Q: How is this different from the Comprehensive Female Profile II?
A: The Hormone Trio tests only the three essential sex hormones (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone). The Comprehensive Female Profile II tests 12 biomarkers including sex hormones, thyroid hormones (TSH, Free T4, Free T3, TPO), and adrenal hormones (cortisol). Choose the Hormone Trio if you have specific sex hormone concerns and want a more affordable option. Choose the Comprehensive Female Profile II if you have multiple symptoms affecting energy, weight, mood, and stress, or if you want the most complete hormonal assessment.
Q: Should I add thyroid or adrenal testing?
A: If you have symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, cold intolerance, or chronic stress, you may benefit from adding thyroid and adrenal testing. Consider the Elite Thyroid Profile or the Comprehensive Female Profile II for more complete testing. We can help you decide during your consultation.
You don’t have to live with PMS, irregular periods, low libido, or unexplained symptoms. The Hormone Trio gives you the essential data you need to understand your sex hormone balance and take action to feel your best.
Affordable. Convenient. Accurate. Actionable.
